My AirBnb in Coimbra

On January 30th, I went to Coimbra for a couple of days. There I stayed in an Airbnb right in the heart of the city. What I didn't realize when I rented the room was that getting to it required climbing seven narrow flights of steps after also ascending a very steep hill. With a suitcase, it was a lot. That said, once the suitcase was in place, it wasn't so bad. It was certainly convenient and had a lovely rooftop patio. While I was there, I did a lot of walking and sight-seeing, since there weren't any festas or concerts going on. It's an incredibly old city, and was the original capital of Portugal from 1139 to 1385. Founded in 1290, the University of Coimbra is one of the oldest in Europe. It sits upon a hill overlooking the city and the beautiful Mondego River. I shopped a little, ate in quaint cafes and restaurants, and played the typical tourist shutterbug. I stepped into ancient cathedrals and did a walking tour with an audio guide. I enjoyed my time there and even met a nice couple from Nashville, Tennessee who are also planning a move to Portugal. I'm posting a bunch of photos from my time there.
